' Buzz...Buzzz.... '
' Argh..Where's my stupid phone.. A message by Mike? That's weird.. '
Hey Tess! Meet up? Outside the school gate. See you there!
Great. He doesn't even ask whether I want to or not.
' Mum! Where's the blouse I threw on my bed yesterday?! ' I called. ' Oh, curse this stupid chair! ' I said furiously as I stumbled.
My parents divorced when I'm six and I've lived with my mum ever since. My dad? He's in California advancing his business. He's a busy man and rarely comes home. I've guessed that's partly the reason why they divorced. Having a pale face and flat, black hair, I'm just an average girl in school with no exceptionally good grades and two best friends, Tina and Kris.
Mike was my ex-boyfriend. He was quite popular in my school, being the basketball captain and all. We were together for two months and broke up due to him fooling around with Cheryl. There are so many girls lining up for him, and yet I'm foolish enough to believe he actually likes me. When I first saw Cheryl, I thought she was quite alright. But now, I wouldn't even want to be near her. This matter affected me for a good whole week.
' Hey Tess! What took you so long? ' Mike waved as he saw me approaching him; he thought.
' None of your business. '
' Aww..C'mon, show some liveliness! It's the first day of school, ' He chirped.
' Go get a life. '
' Tessie! ' Tina and Kris chorused as they come, running. ' We were waiting for you at the cafeteria, ' Kris said. ' Uh-huh. We thought you weren't coming, ' Tina added.
' Why wouldn't I come? Hahaha. Let's get going already. '
' Hey, would you - ' Mike's voiced trailed off behind as the three girls walked off.
' I can't believe he dared to speak to you! What were you doing with him? ' Kris exclaimed.
' He wanted to meet me outside the school gate. Of course, I never agreed. Never will. But I just have to walk through the gate, right? ' I protested.
' After what he'd done, I'd believe he didn't want to be a guy anymore, ' said Tina.
' You found him in bed with Cheryl while you guys are together, and he still dares to face you! '
' Kris, stop it already! ' hushed Tina.
' Whatever, expected from him anyway. Besides, it's been so long already. ' I said.
' Well, expected from him, but not him! ' Tina nudged Tess as Jake walked towards their direction.
Just then, his eyes spotted mine.
My heart skipped a beat.

P.E Lesson.
' Hey Tess! I'm open! Pass me the ball! ' cried Jason.
' Beeeeeeep! ' the whistle for the game to stop sounded.
' Why are you so dazed? ' asked Jason. ' We could've scored. '
' Sorry, ' I mumbled.
' Are you still electrocuted by those ocean-blue eyes? Hahaha! ' Tina called from the opposite of the basketball court.
' Shut up! ' I mouthed as I blushed.
Jason was puzzled.
' Never mind her about that. Anyway, we're going down to La vigne later. Coming? '
' Sure. '
' Ding! ' The welcome bell rang as Jason and the three girls entered their favourite restaurant. Jimmy immediately brought them to their usual seats.
' Welcome, welcome! How have you been, my dearest customers? ' Jimmy's warm Italic accent flowed. ' What do you feel like having today? '
' Anything special? ' I asked.
